Brainwave Tuner for Blackberry

I just came across version 1 of the Brainwave Tuner application for Blackberry. It’s categorized as “Personal Productivity Blackberry Software”. I don’t know why, but that’s laugh-out-loud funny to me: it just seems like an overly businesslike description.

The application is attributed to a company called iMobLife, but I am unable to find it on their website. I have come across the software on three different websites before I gave up looking, and all of them with the exact same description: Mobihand, Blackberry Rocks and Geekzone. It’s probably available on the App World Store, but since I don’t have a Blackberry, I will roll my eyes and sheepishly move on to the observations I can make from the information available.

User Interface

Certainly, the user interface is not as snappy looking as any of the binaural beat applications for the iPod & iPhone (Links to binaural beat applications on Apple iTunes Music Store). The user interface is functional, but unattractive. The up side is that the app is backwards compatible with older Blackberry operating systems and the screen saver looks like it might be entrancing in a retro kind of way.

Presets

Brainwave Tuner reflects the trend in mobile phone applications to create presets geared to provide a solution to people who don’t understand the nuances of binaural beats. What’s more, it’s unclear if the application includes help or documentation, but if I had purchased this application, I would like clarification on a few of these because we are potentially messing with brainwaves, here.
